VACHER, George Herbert, 2nd Lieutenant, 4th Bn Bn The Royal Warwickshire Regiment, died 11 November 1914 aged 20.
Son of Herbert Perkins Vacher and Elizabeth Gautherot Vacher of Wayford, Edgar Road. Born 1894. At school in 1911. Enlisted in August 1914 and served in France. Killed in Action 11 November 1914 attached 2nd Bn. Commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium (PR Panel 2 and 3.). Memorial at St Cross Chapel.
De Ruvigny states:
‘2nd Lieut., The Royal Warwickshire Regt., oldest s. of Herbert P (and Elizabeth G.) Vacher, of Weyford, Winchester; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, and was Killed in Action between the end of Oct. and 7 Nov. 1914’
His brother William E. served in France as a 2nd Lieutenant, promoted to Captain in The Worcestershire Regiment, Trench Mortar Battery. He was taken prisoner by Germans in 1918 and survived the War.

Son of Col. John S. Vandeleur, CB, and Frederic Jane Vandeleur (widow 1911) of 1, Romsey Road. Born 1887. Served in Belgium during the War. Killed in Action 7 November 1914 at Ploegstraat. Commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ypres (Ieper), West-Vlaanderen, Belgium (PR Panel 33.). Memorials at Holy Trinity, St Matthew's, St Paul's and St Thomas’s.
