Served in India and Mesopotamia. Taken prisoner by Turks on 24 September 1916 and died a POW in September 1916 or 12 February 1918. Buried in the Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq (GR XXI. P. 7.). Memorials at St Matthew’s, St Paul’s and St Thomas’s School.

Enlisted in the Royal Navy by 1911 when the census record states he was a Boy Artificer 416 with the shore establishment HMS Fisgard. Served aboard HMS Good Hope in the War and was Killed in Action 1 November 1914. De Ruvigny states ‘lost in action off Coronel, on the coast of Chile’. Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial (PR 3.). Memorials at Peter Symonds School and St Michael's.

By 1911there were Iris May born 1905, Leonard George born 1908 and Tom born 1911. Enlisted 9 June 1916 at Sherborne and served in India. Transferred from the Dorset Yeomanry. Died of sunstroke 22 June 1918 at Simla. Commemorated on the Delhi 1914-1918 War Memorial, India. Memorial at St Michael’s.
